A Brief History…The beginnings of Wasp Speed Fat Loss
You may have heard of Alwyn Cosgrove through magazines like Men's Health. I first heard about Alwyn Cosgrove through an article in a fitness magazine where he spoke of 'Hybrid exercises'.
These exercises were all about combining different elements for maximum efficiency in a workout, saving time and getting better results.
Alwyn also runs a gym in California, the massive majority of his clients come for one thing and that’s quick weight loss.
So Alwyn has been testing new theories for fat loss over many years.
In 2006 he published his thoughts on a 'Hierarchy of Fat Loss' which basically looks like this:

3. High Intensity Anaerobic Interval Training
4. High Intensity Aerobic Interval Training
5. Steady State High Intensity Aerobic Training

Alwyn actually puts nutrition at position 1 and 2 as he thinks it's that important.
This is how it works:
You would kick start your weight loss at number 1. You would do number 1 as well as you could, eating the right nutrition perfectly.
If you have time to do exercise then add number 2 and do that as well as you can, 3 days a week of the right resistance training.
If you have more time add 3.... and so on and so on...until you are doing all six.
The problem is, it doesn't really work in the real world, nobody has this much time on their hands....that was until now.
Previously it just took too long to do each of these exercises separately.
But what if the concepts of exercise efficiency (hybrid exercise) and the fat loss hierarchy were combined?
And what if you took nutrition specifically designed for this workout?
And then you tested and tested until you got the right combinations.

Before we explain how this happens, picture a diet with enough energy for high intensity exercise but for the rest of the day your body burnt fat instead?

Who is this NOT for?
If you are looking for a lifestyle workout, time to move on, this is not it. There are plenty of great ones like turbulence training. This one is 24 workouts over 28 days... and you will count each day. And when you are finished you will move on and do something else.
If you have more than 25lbs of fat to lose then this is possibly also not the best workout for you.
The reason for this is pretty simple; you need to be in a bit of shape to take advantage of this program.
If you are completely out of shape you will probably be able to lose great amounts with just beginning interval training, my best advice would be to leave this until you have finished something like the HIIT for beginners workout.
Once you have finished with that, then move onto this and your results will be phenomenal.

Conclusion
OK, I really did my best to give you an impartial review, I really tried, but I failed, I love this program...I've waited about two years for it to come to fruition, so...unfortunately please consider this a biased review, I couldn't help it.
Occasionally there are watershed moments where the paradigm shifts in a big way, just like when Bill Phillips invented Body for Life. I think this is one of those workouts. In two or three years from now its going to seem normal to lose this much weight in 4 weeks, and this is probably going to be the workout that start it all off. |
