Warp Speed and Weights

by Bill
(singapore)

Hi, I have a few queries:

1. what if I'm training clients in a studio and do not have access to 'iron' (weights for squats and presses)?

2. I'm training two females who cannot do pull ups, what alternative should I use?

3. If using dumbbells should I have my clients lifting to failure of just the recommended reps? How do I determing what dumbbell wheight they should be using?

Thanks

Answers: 1. Warp speed fat loss is really an all out, no compromise workout. It's not going to work as effectively without weights and resistance training. My suggestion would be to look at Turbulence Training. The author, Craig Ballantyne has put together some awesome fat loss workouts using your body weight and they sound like they would be perfect for your studio.

2. Not being able to do pull ups is very familiar to me, I can't do them either! But its a king exercise, I certainly wouldn't substitute it.

If the ladies train together they can spot each other by helping pull the exerciser up by lifting their shoes.

If they train alone then what i normally do is instead of pulling myself up vertically on a bar i will lower the bar. Then place my body underneath the bar at about 45 degrees with my feet in front touching the ground. Keep your body stiff and do pull ups from below the bar.

Each week as you improve with this you can get your body into a steeper incline untill you are strong enough to do a pull up.

3. For any fat loss program including warp speed fat loss you don't want to train until failure, you want to stop one repetition before. At the end of a set you should feel like you could cope perhaps one more rep but definitely not two.

The best way to figure this out is to take a note book to gym and keep tabs on your weights, start at something you feel is challenging, if you do all of the reps then choose heavier dumbells at your next workout until you feel like you are in the situation mentioned above.

If you fail on the set, thats also ok, just reduce a little weight on the next workout.
