treadmill training

by Nicole
(Derry, NH US)

Would I be able to gauge my sprints on the treadmill by the mph numbers? For instance, would "7" on a treadmill correspond to "7" on the workout.

Treadmill

Certainly not, the levels are a personal gauge, each person is different.

A treadmill is not the best machine for understanding this, if you can jump on a spinning bike it works pretty well.

Just sitting on the bike with no resistance at all would be a level of 1.

Add speed and resistance until you are sweating and breathing harder but not panting, this would be a five.

Then turn up the resistance as high as you can go with still peddling and sprint as hard as you can for as long as you can. If you can manage 30 seconds and not a seconds more, this is a level 10.

Your levels will change every day based on how you feel and they will improve as you get fitter and stronger. Your levels are customized to you only though.
