Tabata...

Your article mentions that Tabata training shouldn't be done everyday, or else we're doing it wrong.

But I thought Dr. Izumi made his subjects perform this routine 5days/wk for 6 weeks. Granted they were very fit to begin with, it isn't something where it was impossible to perform (for them).

For me, I tried my first Tabata routine today using a jump rope. I put in 100% maximum effort and ended up only doing 4 reps (I was literally drooling spit + snot out of my nose). I was in the bathroom for the next half hour spitting out what felt like battery acid.

Yes, it was difficult, but after about an hour, my body is back to normal and feel that I can probably perform the same routine again tomorrow. Maybe I'll shoot for 5 sets this time.

Lactic indicator
by: Piphat regular Thai guy

In my opinion, not only you feel tired out but also the muscle must be exhausted of the internal energy and resorts to anaerobic source of energy known as lactic power. Your muscles must have been sore by the by-product of inner cells' nuclear battery, which should put you on side field bench for at least a couple of days. If not so, I think you were not hitting that lactic threshold. I would consider the DOMS as the lactic indicator.

Hard or What
by: Andy

I have trained hard all of my life. i have been looking for a new challenge and came across Tabata. I have to say it is one of the hardest sessions i have endured. i am currently following a 5 day weight session, each weight session i follow with one set of Tabata on the bike and one session on the cross trainer.
I am sore like i have never been before and drowning in my own vomit at the time, but i find i recover quickly after the session, like about an hour or so. Unfortunately the DOMS with this programme are insane though. if you are not used to high intensity i would start with just one or two weights sessions for the first couple of weeks....ENJOY :-)
