Tabata Deadlift

First pick a weight, 165lbs, 225lbs & 315lbs. The idea is to do as many reps of your chosen weight within the eight sets. Trust me this is way harder than it sounds.

By the end you will be a ball of pain and sweat, but you just gotta love it. You could pick your own weight but you want it to be challenging.

165lbs = Amateur
225lbs = intermediate
315lbs = Professional strength athletes.
Me personally, I am recording 70 reps at 225lbs, which is actually pretty ordinary.

Amateur? Intermediate?

By what criteria have you chosen these weight ranges? Shouldn't there be some variation based on the athlete's training age, weight, or even gender?? This seems random and cavalier.

Be careful
by: Anonymous

Deadlifts, olympic lifts, etc can be very form-demanding, which is contra-indicated when you are pushing past exhaustion like in Tabatas. I prefer things like Squat Jumps, Burpees (ugh!), Push Presses, Front squats, Cable Twists, etc. One of my favorites is dragging a heavy tire or heavy log with a harness. The point is that if your exersize depends on good form to prevent injury, be careful.

Max?
by: Anonymous

I understand your choice of weights but I have to ask what you max is? If your max is only 315 then 225 would be too hard to get correct form on and continue for 4 minutes. Do you have an approximation of your max ?
