Intensity

When the workouts say something like "6 sprint intervals at level 9 and 6 rest intervals at level 4", what "level" are they referring to? Intensity level? Incline level? Speed level? These are all options that are available on my treadmill and I don't know which one the workout is referring to. thanks

Answer: The level refers directly to your intensity level, its how much effort you have to expend. So level 3 would be something like a slow jog, level 7 would be three quarter pace, going quite hard and level 10 would be giving it everything you have.

The purpose of levels is that everybody has a different fitness level and with that a level of 10 will be different for everybody, it lets you customize the program for yourself.

still don't know how to measure intensity...
by: Maria

Hello,

I'm about to start the 8-week program and I wanna make sure I'm doing it right!
I'm 30y/o, 63kgs and 162 cms.

I was already doing interval training on my own on the treadmill. This is what I was doing:

- 8 min. warm up (gradually from 4mph to 6mph)
- 10 repetitions of 60 secs sprint (10 mph) and 90 secs walk (6 mph)
- 4 min cool down (5 mph)

After I'm done with this I am almost dead, but I can do it.
So knowing all of that, it would be great help if u can tell me what does level 10 in intensity equal in speed for me

Thank you!
