HIIT plus longer cardio?

I am trying HIIT and am doing it for the first fifteen minutes of my work-out and then doing steady state cardio for the last 30 min. I still want to get cardio conditioning (I am a doctor and find building endurance and a strong heart important too). WOuld this be okay or am I sabotaging myself. My other main goal is loosing belly fat.
Answer: This should be completely fine, just make sure that your cardio always follows your intervals and that you don't hold yourself back and save energy in your HIIT for later
