High intensity workouts, with poor nutrition!

by Rebecca
(Louisiana)

I'm not sure what to eat after a high intensity workout, or throughout the day? I usually workout in the am, do not eat b'fest...:-/ eat a salad w a lean meat for lunch and the late afternoon I'm starving. Leading to me grabbing whtev outta the snack drawer and continuing that until bedtime! Worst possible time to eat anything.... I know. What should I be eating and when thru out the day in order to sustain my workouts and loose the fat?

Nutrition first.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! FACT!. when you eat breakfast you kickstart your metabolism to burn more calories than if you hadnt of eaten breakfast. You should always have energy in the tank before a workout, and refuel asap after. you are ravenous in the afternoon, because you body is still in a energy defecit from the morning. Snacking is the enemy of all who seek weightloss or peak performance. set up 5 meals a day, spread out and well balanced in nutrition. if your hungry then its too late, your muscles will not recover quick enough or repair to the maximum potental.

HIIT with poor nutrition won't help you get the results you want.
For those who don't do b'fast (whatever their reasoning) might consider becoming friends with the blender. Green smoothies are a great alternative for b'fast and a great afternoon pick-me-up.
They can be chock full of vitamins, protein, healthy fats, fiber, fruits and yes, even veggies.
Add things like Almond butter or coconut milk to give it more "staying" power. Add a bit of fruit and a generous amount of spinach (or other leafy dark green) along with some flax or chia seeds and you've got amazing nutrition that's fast and easy.
