Does a Bench Press use a large muscle group?

by Rob

I'm looking to start HIIT, and I have a free weight bench press, and I was just wondering if that would utilize a large muscle group.

best exercises

yeah it does. Its one of the best exercises you can do as it works multiple muscle groups. Other great exercises are deadlifts and squats so try and work those into your routine as well.

Using your whole body

IF you're performing the bench press exercise with a correct technique, it's a whole-body exercise. You're tightening and activating almost every muscle in your body, from your calves, glutes, lumbar spine, chest, arms, you name it:P

it would be potentially dangerous to use bench press as a part of a high intensity or circuit workout without someone to spot you as you will be most likely achieving muscle failure if you are doing this type of training, what if you can't get the weight up that one last time? i've experienced this, and it is quite a horrible feeling, not to mention dangerous...

"Large muscles" says it all NEW

Your legs are your body's largest muscles; hence, Tabata training should be done with exercises that involve the legs muscles (i.e., squats, deadlift, stair climbing, etc.)
